Celebrate West Virginia Day with the Marion County Public Library System as we honor the history, culture, music, and traditions that make West Virginia so special. From live Appalachian music to a spirited pepperoni roll eating contest, our library branches are bringing communities together for a day filled with mountain pride, family fun, and unforgettable local flavor.

At the Mannington Public Library, you are invited to enjoy a lively summer morning celebrating the people, culture, and traditions of West Virginia through music and community fellowship. Local Appalachian musicians will fill the library with songs, dancing, and mountain spirit in an event that is fun for all ages. Guests are encouraged to wear their favorite blue and gold – and maybe even their dancing shoes!

The celebration will feature a special performance by The Fridley Boys, bringing their signature Appalachian sound and energy to the festivities. Best of all, the concert is completely free – because Mountaineers are always free!

Meanwhile, the Fairview Public Library will host a deliciously competitive celebration as part of America 250 festivities with a true West Virginia icon: the pepperoni roll!

Think you have what it takes to become the ultimate pepperoni roll champion? Participants will compete head-to-head to see who can eat the most pepperoni rolls before time runs out. Contest categories will include ages 5–10, 11–15, and 16 through adult, making this an exciting event for competitors and spectators alike.

Families and friends are invited to cheer on contestants, enjoy the lively atmosphere, and celebrate one of West Virginia’s most famous foods in true Mountaineer fashion. Whether you’re competing for the title or simply coming to enjoy the fun, this crowd-pleasing event promises plenty of laughs, excitement, and Appalachian pride.
