Apply for a library card through the MCPLS Pocket Library app, available on Google Play and the Apple App Store. It will give you the option to take a picture of your WV Photo ID and (if necessary) proof of residency. We will review the application and send your new library card to you by mail.
With the MCPLS Pocket Library you can also: search for materials, reserve items, save a digital copy of your library card, manage accounts, explore online resources, renew items, cancel holds, browse library events, AND MORE!
Applicants must present valid ID and fill out and sign a library application in person, through the MCPLS website, or through the Marion County Public Library app. Parents or legal guardians must present ID for children under 18. A person applying for a library card must show State of WV issued photo identification or Government-issued Military ID. If address on photo ID is not current or not included on card we require current address verification from one of the following:
- Current utility bill (past 60 days)
- Valid vehicle registration
- Pay stub with printed address
- Current Medicaid card with address
- Bank statement with address
- Court issued documents
- School transcript
- Mortgage paperwork, lease, rent receipt, or property deed
