Volunteer Opportunities
You are invited to join our team of volunteers!
Whether you are a student (age 12 or older) or adult, employed or retired, you will be a welcome addition to our library team. The Marion County Public Library System has many opportunities for you to share your skills, experience, time and energy.
Volunteers provide much-needed services at our branch libraries. These services vary by the volunteer’s personal interest and the branch library’s need.
Volunteer opportunities may involve:
- Shelving books
- Shelf reading (making sure books are in order on the shelves) and straightening
- Assisting with special events
- Assisting with preschool and toddler story times
- Assisting with our summer reading programs
If you are interested in sharing your talents and expertise with the Marion County Public Library System, please contact the volunteer coordinator at your local branch. You will need to complete a volunteer agreement. Volunteers ages 12-17 require a parental signature and a parent conference with the volunteer coordinator prior to beginning their volunteer work.
You can also volunteer your time to the library by becoming a Friend of the Library. Friends of the Library organizations in Mannington, Fairview and Fairmont meet on a regular basis and provide financial support to the library branches through their fundraising efforts, including book sales.
Please contact your local Branch Manager or Library Director for more information.
