The Marion County Genealogical Club maintains the genealogical reference department in the Marion County Public Library. Through the sale of publications, the club has been able to purchase many publications from throughout the state of West Virginia and surrounding states including census records and vital statistics including births, deaths, marriages, and cemetery records. Our shelves also contain county histories, general genealogical information and material from surrounding states. There are also many volumes of family histories which have been donated.
We have available a microfilm reader and a computer for on-line research. For your convenience, there is a coin operated copy machine available.
We are happy to answer questions, but we do not have the personnel to do in-depth research. It is through the efforts of a small but dedicated group of volunteers that we are able to make information available for hands-on research. Please send email queries to firstname.lastname@example.org.
