Adult Summer Reading Program Kick-off
Summer is almost upon us, and so is Adult Summer Reading! Read for fun, information, and prizes (more about them in a bit)! Come to the library to sign up as a participant on Monday, June 18, and, while you’re there, stay for the Between the Covers kickoff program at 4:00. Interior designer Kathy Rowh from Friendly Furniture will show how to make over your bedroom to make it a relaxing, soothing retreat. Please stop by or call the library at 304-366-1210 to reserve a seat.
In keeping with our nighttime theme, we will offer another special program the following Monday, June 25, at 6:00 p.m. when National Safety Council driving instructor Steve Holland will give tips on safe driving, particularly when driving after dark. Whether you’re a senior citizen in need of some advice for those times when you have to be out on the road at night, a new driver interested in being safe behind the wheel, or anyone in between looking for answers on how to handle all that traffic and summertime road construction, this program will help you keep yourself and your passengers safe. Seats may be reserved by calling the library at 304-366-1210.
Prizes???? We’ve got ‘em for readers!! We’ll have a prize drawing every Friday at 3:00, so for every book you read you can submit an entry. (All remaining entries will be discarded after each drawing, so keep reading for the next one!) Plus…..every participant who completes a journal with reviews of 6 titles read over the summer will be eligible for our grand prize of a $150 gift card from Barnes & Noble at the end of the program August 10 (one entry per participant).
Check our website at mcpls.org or our Facebook page for news of additional upcoming summer events. All programs are free and open to the public. A borrower’s card from the Marion County Public Library System is required for prize eligibility.
