Teens in grades 6-12 can enter our Spooky Short Story contest. Entries should be 1-2 pages long; turn them in at the library from October 1- 16 for a chance to win a $25 iTunes Gift Card.
The Friends of Marion County Public Library will hold their annual meeting on Sunday, September 15th at 2:00pm. West Virginia author, Patricia Harman, will be the guest speaker. Patricia is the author of popular titles, like: The Midwife of Hope River, The Blue Cotton Gown, and Arms Wide Ope. Patricia has spent over thirty years caring for women in the field of midwifery. She has a beautiful way with words and writes the stories of herself and others. Please join us for a delightful afternoon.
Local artist Debbie Hayhurst will be showcasing her work during the month of September in our exhibit room. Debbie works in several different medias including oils, pen and ink, and watercolor. She also paints backdrops on queen-size sheets and creates life-size wooden animals.
The Marion County Public Library will host a book signing by local children’s author Linda Stevenski on Friday, September 20th from 10:00-12:00.
In addition to hosting Banned Books Week, September is also Library Card Sign-Up Month. People who sign up for a library card during this month will be entered into a drawing for a Banned Books Basket. Two winners will be drawn on October 1st: one adult, one teen.
MCPL's Adult Craft Class will meet Tuesday, September 17th at 4:00pm. In honor of Banned Books Week, we will be creating a Banned Books Card Case. No supplies are needed, but registration is required.
