Need help navigating and registering for the Affordable Care Act? Each Tuesday through March 25, a certified Affordable Care Act counselor from the Fairmont MVA Clinic will be at the Marion County Public Library from 9:30am - 5:30pm to offer assistance.
In celebration of one of literature's most beloved bears, Winnie the Pooh, the library will host a special program on January 18th. The celebration that falls on creator A.A. Miline's birthday will feature many activities throughout the day. Starting at 1:00pm, children are encouraged to bring their favorite stuffed animal to enjoy cake and drinks at our Teddy Bear Picnic.
At 2:00pm, Winnie the Pooh: A Very Merry Pooh Year will be shown.
For January's Adult Craft Class at Marion County Public Library, we're making a found objects picture. Bring in a collection of small, interesting items you've found around the house or town (buttons, rocks, keys, etc...) and we'll turn them into a lovely, one-of-a-kind picture to brighten up any room in your home. This free class will take place January 13 at 4:00pm. Space is limited, call or visit the library to sign up.
The snow is falling, the temperatures are dropping and all you want to do is snuggle by the fire with a good book. Why not read to win with Marion County Public Library's Adult Winter Reading Program?
Adults can stop in to pick up their Hot Reads for Cold Nights reading packet anytime beginning January 6th. Read any book of your choice, fill out a reading log, and drop it off in the fireplace in the lobby. Each log tossed in the fire gets you one entry to win some great prizes. Program runs January 6 - February 28. Five winners will be randomly selected on April 1st.
The Awesome Readers’ Club will meet on January 27th at 4:30pm to discuss Ashes by Ilsa J. Bick. ARC is open to teens in grades 6-12. Sign-up at the MCPL circulation desk to join and receive a copy of this month’s book.
For January’s teen Crafternoon, we’re making DIY sharpie mugs. All materials will be supplied. Space is limited, so registration is required. Please call or visit the library to sign-up. Meeting takes place January 6th at 4:30pm.
The Teen Chess Club will meet on January 4th from 10:00-2:00pm. Open to all teens in grades 6-12. Join us for chess, snacks, and fun.
This month Marion County Public Library debuts our new Teen Classic Film Club. Our inaugural film will be Gone with the Wind. Join us on December 21st at 10:00am to view this Civil War-era saga. Snacks will be served. Anyone ages 13 – 18 may attend.

Adults 18-up are invited to sign up for Cookies and Comedy on Tuesday, December 17th. Bring in a batch of your favorite holiday cookies, and don’t forget the recipe to share, and enjoy good company and a hilarious holiday showing of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. The fun starts at 4:00, and space is limited.
