Winter Olympics Library Edition

Join the Marion County Public Library on February 22nd, from 1:00 - 3:00pm, for paper plate ice-skating fun. Coloring, activity sheets, and a craft will serve up Olympic-sized fun. A Wii winter tournament will take place at 2:00pm, featuring the Mountain Sports. Children can sign-up for the tournament starting at 12:00pm that day. 

Adult Craft Class

The Marion County Public Library Adult Craft Class will meet Monday, February 10th at 4:00pm. This month we'll make a sweetheart frame for your Valentine! All materials will be provided. Space is limited, so registration is required. Call or visit the library to sign-up.

Blind Date with a Book

In honor of the sweetest month of the year, the Marion County Public Library is holding a Blind Date with a Book drawing all month long. Stop in at the library in February and pick up one of our secret selections wrapped in Valentine hearts. Take it home, unwrap it, read it, and complete the review card inside. Bring the review card back to us and you'll be entered into a drawing for a Date Night basket at the end of the month. The more Blind Dates you go on, the more chances you have to win!

Teen Crafternoon

Since MCPL’s January Teen Crafternoon was cancelled because of the weather, we will give Sharpie mugs another shot on February 3rd at 4:30pm . All materials will be provided. Call or visit the library to sign-up. If you registered last month, you name will be added to the February class.

Teen Winter Reading Program

Teens, this February the Marion County Public Library mustache you to read! All month we will have BINGO cards available at our special display in the lobby. Grab a card and read one book from the genre listed to mark off a square, do that five times in a row to make BINGO! Fill out the information on the back of your completed card and drop it into the drawing box. At the end of the month, we’ll hold a drawing for a Barnes & Noble gift card. The more BINGO cards you complete, the more chances you have to win!

Affordable Care Act Assistance

Need help navigating and registering for the Affordable Care Act? Each Tuesday through March 25, a certified Affordable Care Act counselor from the Fairmont MVA Clinic will be at the Marion County Public Library from 9:30am - 5:30pm to offer assistance. 

Winnie the Pooh Day

In celebration of one of literature's most beloved bears, Winnie the Pooh, the library will host a special program on January 18th. The celebration that falls on creator A.A. Miline's birthday will feature many activities throughout the day. Starting at 1:00pm, children are encouraged to bring their favorite stuffed animal to enjoy cake and drinks at our Teddy Bear Picnic. 

At 2:00pm, Winnie the Pooh: A Very Merry Pooh Year will be shown. 


Adult Craft Class

For January's Adult Craft Class at Marion County Public Library, we're making a found objects picture. Bring in a collection of small, interesting items you've found around the house or town (buttons, rocks, keys, etc...) and we'll turn them into a lovely, one-of-a-kind picture to brighten up any room in your home. This free class will take place January 13 at 4:00pm. Space is limited, call or visit the library to sign up.

Adult Winter Reading Program

The snow is falling, the temperatures are dropping and all you want to do is snuggle by the fire with a good book. Why not read to win with Marion County Public Library's Adult Winter Reading Program?

Adults can stop in to pick up their Hot Reads for Cold Nights reading packet anytime beginning January 6th. Read any book of your choice, fill out a reading log, and drop it off in the fireplace in the lobby. Each log tossed in the fire gets you one entry to win some great prizes. Program runs January 6 - February 28. Five winners will be randomly selected on April 1st.

Awesome Readers' Club - Canceled

The Awesome Readers’ Club will meet on January 27th at 4:30pm to discuss Ashes by Ilsa J. Bick. ARC is open to teens in grades 6-12. Sign-up at the MCPL circulation desk to join and receive a copy of this month’s book.
