Teen Summer Movies

Teens can beat the heat this summer by enjoying a movie at Marion County Public Library. To go along with our Spark a Reaction! Summer Reading Program, we will screen a different sci-fi film every Thursday in July. Popcorn and drinks will be served.

July 3 - Ghostbusters (PG) @ 2:00PM

July 10 - Back to the Future (PG) @ 2:00PM

July 17 - Catching Fire (PG-13) @  2:00PM 

LEGO Robotics - High School

Kids going into grades 5-8 are invited to attend a special LEGO robotics program, presented by the folks at NASA, on July 2nd at 2:00PM. Teens going into grades 9-12 will have their own session on July 9th at 12:00PM. Space is limited, so registration is required. Call or visit Marion County Public Library to sign-up.

The Legend of King Arthur

The Hamstead Players return to Marion County Public Library on August 1st at 2:00PM to present The Legend of King Arthur.

Join King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table in this legendary story of the sword and the stone! In our quest, Merlin and Arthur battle their adversaries, Morgana Le Fay and her son, Mordred, for the rights to the sword called Excalibur and Camelot. The legend comes to life in this historic tale of medieval adventure! 

Carnegie Science Center

The Carnegie Science Center will present Colossal Fossil Fuels at Marion County Public Library on July 21st, 2:00PM.

It’s an epic energy adventure millions of years in the making! Journey through time in search of coal, oil, and natural gas. Travel to Prehistoric Park, roar with ancient animals, and discover the plants and plankton that became fossil fuels. At Geology Junction, use sound and electricity to locate underground fuel deposits. At Rockbuster Rig, extract natural gas from the region’s Marcellus Shale formation.

West Virginia Rocks!

The West Virginia Geological Survery will give a presentation on West Virginia rocks at the Marion County Public Library. The presentation will take place Friday, July 11th at 2:00pm.

Adult Craft Class

June’s Adult craft class will highlight the elements of jewelry. We will be creating a “Washer Necklace” on Monday, June 23rd at 5:00 p.m. Bring several of your favorite nail polish colors. All other materials are provided. Space is limited so sign-up is required.
